While Arkansans at large voted in favor of a constitutional amendment that will repeal the gambling license for a Pope County casino, a majority of voters in just six counties cast their ballots against the measure, according to unofficial election results from the Associated Press.
The constitutional amendment — listed on ballots as Issue 2 and likely to be known as Amendment 104 — almost evenly split Pope County and its direct neighbors, with as many of them largely voting in favor of the amendment as those that voted against it. Although a majority of voters in 69 of the state’s 75 counties voted in favor of the amendment, the percentage difference between those who voted for and against the measure statewide was only about 11.6%,
