LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. — A man believed to have been threatening hotel guests with a knife was shot and killed by police Saturday morning.
Lawrenceburg Police were called to the Hollywood Casino Hotel around 1 o’clock Saturday morning. They were informed that shortly before 1 o’clock, the suspect was apparently threatening and chasing someone on the fourth floor of the hotel while holding a knife.
Three officers arrive and learned that the suspect was firing gunshots on the fourth floor.
The officers went to the fourth floor, located the suspect, and ordered him to drop his gun.
Police claim the man then started shooting again which led to officers firing back. The suspect was shot and killed. No officers were hurt.
Police claim one person was injured by the suspect during the original altercation. It is believed the victim and suspect did not know one another. Police are withholding the suspect’s name until proper identification can be made by the coroner and the family can be notified.
The identity of each Lawrenceburg officer is being withheld for now and each involved officer is now on administrative leave.
