ZZ Top will take the stage at Agua Caliente Resort Casino Saturday.
The band currently consists of vocalist and guitarist Billy Gibbons, drummer Frank Beard and bassist Elwood Francis. Francis replaced Dusty Hill in 2021, the group’s bassist for more than half a century until his death.
ZZ Top has achieved a cavalcade of milestones, from a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction to an RIAA-certified Diamond album. The Houston-formed rock band’s southern blues musicality and aesthetics have made them a mainstay in the genre.
Known for hits such as “La Grange” and “Sharp Dressed Man,” ZZ Top released three consecutive albums between 1983 and 1990, reaching No. 9, No. 4 and No. 6 on the Billboard charts. 2012’s “La Futura,” their fifteenth studio album, saw a return to the top 10, a project which Gibbons said “[recalls] the directness of our early stuff,” without “[turning] our backs on contemporary technology.”
The trio is beginning a string of California shows on Saturday — after the 8 p.m. Saturday concert in Rancho Mirage, ZZ Top is scheduled to play in Stockton, Thousand Oaks, Anaheim and San Diego within the next week.
