Fairfax County residents will learn on Monday whether the Tysons casino referendum bill moves forward in the 2025 legislative session or dies.

If passed by the Virginia Senate Committee on Appropriations and Finance, the bill would give the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors the authority to put a casino referendum on an upcoming ballot.

In February 2024, the committee voted 13-2 to hold over Virginia Sen. Dave Marsden’s (D-Burke) Senate Bill 675 to the next legislative session, which begins Jan. 8. The committee has a Nov. 18 deadline to decide whether or not to take up the bill in January.
