Some Christmas cheer at the Salvation Army thanks to the guests at Fond-du-Luth Casino

The Salvation Army got a big payout from the Fond du Luth, and they didn’t have to gamble to win.

It’s part of the casino’s Point to Give campaign. As customers play, they earn points, which the casino lets you donate as dollars to the charity of your choosing.

One option was the Salvation Army. Nearly $1,700 will benefit the Salvation Army. A thousand will go to the nonprofit’s general funds and $650 will become toys for the children who need gifts under the trees.

“A lot of people don’t think of the casino as part of the community, but we are,” said the casino’s marketing manager Jerry Bacon, as he dropped off the check at the Duluth Salvation Army. “We employ a lot of the community we have a lot of customers, and many of them are very generous.”

They also donated a bunch of socks, which is a necessity during the colder months.
