Rapper Lil Baby has enjoyed a prosperous career since he exploded on the hip-hop scene in 2017 with his Billboard Hot 100 entry “My Dawg.” His sophomore album, “My Turn,” soared to the top of the Billboard 200 chart.

Lil Baby has enjoyed a mountain of success in the music industry. He hasn’t been so fortunate on casino floors.

During his appearance last week on Lil Yachty’s “A Safe Place” podcast, Lil Baby admitted to having a gambling problem. He detailed an incident where he gambled for 40 straight hours in Las Vegas where his losses amounted to at least $8 million.

I lost like $8 million, $9 million,” Lil Baby said. “I made myself stop gambling. I don’t gamble no more.”

Lil Baby said he had Fanatics founder and CEO Michael Rubin help him with a letter that he sent casinos on the Las Vegas Strip requesting that his privileges to gamble be terminated.

50 Cent shared the Lil Baby comments to his socials expressing disbelief.

I only thought Floyd [Mayweather] do s*** like that. LOL,” 50 Cent wrote.

Lil Baby won a Grammy Award in 2022 for “Hurricane,” a track he did with Kanye West and The Weeknd. That same year, he won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Hip Hop Video with “Do We Have a Problem?”

Vegas Run-ins

Lil Baby is an Atlanta native but is no stranger to Las Vegas. In August, Lil Baby was arrested in Sin City on a concealed weapons charge.

Las Vegas police detained the rapper at the Clark County Detention Center after he was apprehended at Encore Las Vegas. Security officials noticed Lil Baby being in possession of a firearm.

When police arrived, Lil Baby said he had a concealed carry permit from Georgia, though that didn’t apply in Nevada. However, county prosecutors opted not to press charges after reviewing the case.

Lil Baby won’t have to worry about being spotted by casino security after banning himself from his favorite gaming floors.

Nevada, unlike most commercial gaming states, does not run a statewide self-exclusion program where a gambler can rescind his or her rights to gamble. However, most casinos offer self-exclusion, with registrations typically available at casino cages, security desks, and entry points.

Habitual Gambler

Before making it big, Lil Baby claimed to have bankrolled his rap ambitions by gambling. The man now 30 years old claims to have gambled a $60 loan from his sister into over $100K by hustling casinos.

“The majority of the winnings came from a dice game,” Lil Baby said in 2022 presumably referencing craps.

More recently, in August 2022, Casino.org reported on Lil Baby winning $1 million at an MGM Resorts casino on the Las Vegas Strip. Lil Baby was in town for a tour stop with Chris Brown.

Daily Loud, an online social media outlet focused on hip-hop culture, shared a video of Lil Baby gambling in a VIP room playing baccarat. The rap news outlet claimed Lil Baby gave everyone in his entourage $10K after winning big.
