Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto is hoping a new exclusive partnership announced today with GGPoker will help boost the property as a VIP and poker-enthusiast destination.
GGPoker becomes the official sponsor of The Poker Room at Casino Resort Toronto.
With the agreement, Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto is now the only Ontario destination for hosting World Series of Poker (WSOP) tournaments, including WSOP Circuit bracelet and ring events. Dates for 2025 events on that front will be announced soon, according to a statement released by the company.
Players can look forward to enhanced experiences, like upgraded high-definition televisions, high-speed wifi, and a players’ lounge.
“This collaboration ups the ante on Toronto’s poker offerings, giving players access to the top tournaments and rewards, and cements Great Canadian Toronto as the go-to destination for a world-class poker experience in the city,” said Michael Kim, Executive Vice President, Great Canadian Entertainment, in a statement.
Last spring, Casino Toronto hosted Toronto’s first-ever WSOP Circuit event in collaboration with GGPoker, stretched over 11 days with more than 6,000 entries and a prize pool of $5.5 million. A statement from Great Canadian said the initial pool estimate for that event was $3.9 million.
“This partnership combines the best of live and online poker, offering players premier tournaments and rewards and solidifying Ontario as a hub for world-class poker,” said Sarne Lightman, Managing Director of GGPoker, in a statement.
Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto opened in June 2023, at a price tag of $1 billion, and has 328,000 sq. ft. of gaming space, a 400-room hotel, wellness and fitness area, multiple dining options, indoor pool, and a 5,000-person theatre, a live entertainment venue in partnership with Live Nation, which books in live music, comedy, and special events.
