Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa has announced a partnership with the Ottawa Charge of the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL). Hard Rock becomes the exclusive brick-and-mortar casino partner of the PWHL.
The PWHL overall has been moving fast on the sponsorship front. In November, FanDuel announced that it had become an Official Sportsbook Partner of the PWHL and exclusive In-app Streaming Partner of the league on the FanDuel app.
The PWHL has six teams: Boston Fleet, Minnesota Frost, Montreal Victoire, New York Sirens, Ottawa Charge, and Toronto Sceptres. Now in its second season, the challenge for the league after strong attendance numbers in two of the Canadian cities is to beef up attendance in the U.S. Ottawa as well has some climbing to do on the attendance front.
The $350 million Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa is in the final phase of construction.
“Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa and the Ottawa Charge are two dynamic brands in our nation’s capital and our partnership with the team will offer premier entertainment options for thrill seekers in eastern Ontario and beyond,” said Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa President Christine Crump, in a written statement. “We recognize the significance of the PWHL for women and sports and to commemorate their historical inaugural season, we have a special piece of memorabilia that will hang in our newly renovated space.”
There will be in-arena experiences at Charge games, with interactive activations, branding opportunities, and intermission moments. Social media will also be activated, giving fans a chance to win a game-day experience.
Future amenities at the new Hard Rock will include a 150-room hotel, an expanded gaming floor with 1,500 slot machines, 40 live-action table games, and high-limit gaming, along with 10 restaurants, bars, and lounges. The resort will also feature a 1,800-plus-seat Hard Rock live venue.
