SEOUL, March 6 (Korea Bizwire) — Kangwon Land, the only casino in South Korea where domestic citizens can legally gamble, has launched a groundbreaking responsible gaming program aimed at promoting healthier gambling habits among its patrons.
The casino operator announced on March 5 that it has fully implemented its K-GREEN system, which had been in trial operation since the introduction of a smart entry system in October of last year. The program’s name stands for “Kangwon Land Gambling Responsibility & Enjoyment Education Navigation.”
The initiative represents a significant shift in approach to responsible gaming in South Korea’s gambling industry. Rather than focusing on interventions after problems develop, K-GREEN emphasizes prevention through education and self-directed management of casino visits.
Under the new system, first-time visitors must complete a structured journey through the casino facility. The process begins at the ticketing desk and proceeds through the Mind Healing Center, where visitors receive guidance on responsible gaming. Patrons then move through the casino entrance to a special gaming experience zone for practice before participating in actual casino games.
“As the only casino in Korea where domestic citizens can enter, Kangwon Land must balance regulatory easing with a strong commitment to responsible gaming and visitor protection as we evolve into a global integrated resort,” said Choi Cheol-kyu, acting CEO of Kangwon Land. “We are dedicated to establishing a healthy gaming culture.”
The casino operator expects this pioneering approach to responsible gaming will establish it as an industry leader in gambling harm prevention. The program marks the first comprehensive visitor protection system of its kind in South Korea’s gambling sector.
