Lots of folks are worried about inflation and higher costs for goods. But that is not stopping folks from gambling. In a recent check of gambling revenues for Shreveport-Bossier and Louisiana casinos, I found the numbers higher now than they have been in a full year!
Louisiana has several commercial and tribal casinos that employ more than 44 thousand people. These Louisiana casinos bring in about $1.3 billion in tax revenues every year.
Louisiana Casino Industry Shows Robust Health
According to American Gaming, Louisiana is one of only 4 states that has seen an increase in gambling revenues. Among all the states, Louisiana is number 8 in gambling revenues so far this year with a total of close to $500 million.
But why are casino revenues up in Louisiana? Economist James Klass tells Vixio.com there are concerns about a recession and that could impact gambling revenues. But other experts say some people try to deal with high costs by gambling as a way to try to earn a quick buck.

The casinos in Shreveport-Bossier brought in $57.7 million dollars in March of 2025. That is the highest revenue total for the local market in a year. The revenues are up more than 26% from the $45 million gambled in February.
