The NASCAR Cup Series returns to Michigan International Speedway on Sunday for the FireKeepers Casino 400. There’s still some good seats remaining for Sunday’s race in the Irish Hills.

The top series in stock car racing as been coming to the Irish Hills since the track opened in 1969. It might only be one weekend out of the year when NASCAR races at MIS, but compared to the decades of having two events, fans still get treated to some exciting action.

This year’s NCS race has moved to June after the last few years where the series ran in August, some speculating that it is an attempt to combat the rain, which has forced the last two Cup Series races to be completed on a Monday.

This year’s race will have plenty of question marks, as several drivers are looking to score a win and punch their ticket to the playoffs, including Portage native Carson Hocevar, who finished second at Nashville last weekend. He, Erik Jones and series champion Brad Keselowski are trying to become the first Michigan natives to win the NCS event.
