Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas has been evacuated amid unconfirmed reports of a shooting. A video shot by a passer-by appears to show a gunman pulling out a pistol and starting to shoot. Further images reportedly show injured people lying on the sidewalk.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said they were responding to an incident outside the casino and people should avoid the area. In statement they wrote: “We are responding to a shooting in the 3600 block of S. Las Vegas Boulevard.
“The shooting did not occur inside a casino. Please avoid the area.”
The suspect in the shooting is believed to be a YouTuber who goes by the moniker SinCity-MannyWise or is affiliated with the Sin City Family channel, Channle2Now reports.
The YouTuber became involved in a heated dispute with a woman, according to eye-witness reports.
Seconds later, the man pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots off-screen.
Witnesses on scene reported that at least one person had been hit by gunfire.
Later, some social media users claimed a second person may have been injured, though authorities have not yet confirmed the number or identity of the victims.
No arrests have been reported and as yet there has been no offficial confiormation of the identity of the gunman.
News of the shooting spread rapidly on social media channels.
One person wrote: “Active shooter situation on Las Vegas Strip. Heavy police and rescue on scene. Situation seems to be under control. No more shots fired.”
In another video posted online, seven gunshots can be heard as a woman screams “Are you f***ing kidding me?!”
A further clip shows police swarming towards the scene as pedestrians along the strip run in panic.
The casino resort attracts thousands of visitors and is famous for its opulent Italian-inspired design, luxury amenities, and the spectacular Fountains of Bellagio water show.
The resort’s world-class dining, fine art collection, and Cirque du Soleil performances further contribute to its fame.
