BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – An Amite man was arrested after allegedly claiming more than $100,000 in fake winnings on behalf of someone whose taxes he was preparing, according to arrest documents.

Todd Ramon Mabry, 32, is charged with filing false public records, attempted theft, and computer fraud for reporting $158,223 in winnings from L’auberge Casino and requesting more than $25,000 in refunds.

Agents from the Louisiana Department of Revenue’s Criminal Investigation’s Division identified at least 10 similar tax returns submitted from a home in Hammond, according to the arrest document.

Arrest documents state that Mabry is suspected of being a coconspirator in a larger scheme. Additional arrests could be pending.

While Mabry’s Linkedin account lists him as an employee of the Tangipahoa Parish Clerk of Court, an official from the office said he resigned from the agency in September of 2019.
