Since it opened in 2018, many people have misstated the name of Ocean Casino Resort, adding an “S” to the end of it and calling it “Oceans.”
This persisted for years, particularly on social media, despite the casino’s best efforts to set the record straight.
Part of it undoubtedly was familiarity with and affinity for the “Oceans” series of movies starring George Clooney and an all-star cast of casino burglars.
So when a video popped up Tuesday morning showing the word “Oceans” on the side of the building, many people had their “I told you so!” moment.
Alas, it was a forgery, posted by the casino as an April Fools’ Day prank.
“For years we’ve been correcting people who called it ‘Oceans,’” said Brian Brennan, a spokesman for the casino.
