Lethbridge police say a local casino was the target of a “swatting” hoax on Thursday night.
Swatting is when a false report is made to provoke a major response from police.
Officers say they rushed to Pure Casino Lethbridge on the 3000 block of 2 Avenue North after receiving a report from an unknown caller saying the casino would explode.
Casino security also reported a suspicious package left inside.
The building was evacuated, but investigators found no explosives after an extensive search.
It was determined a hoax, with police adding there was no threat to the public.
