Las Vegas casino executive and philanthropist Elaine Wynn, who co-founded Mirage Resorts and Wynn Resorts, has died at her home at the age of 82.
Her passing was announced by the Elaine P Wynn & Family Foundation yesterday (Tuesday, April 15). Wynn Resorts also put out a statement extending its condolences to her friends and family.
“Her many talents and special touches are indelibly imprinted on the company and still evident throughout our resorts,” the statement read.
The native New Yorker was known as much for her philanthropy and charity work, especially for her advocacy in the arts, education and women’s right, as she as a business executive in Las Vegas.
She twice married and twice divorced businessman Steve Wynn, with whom she had two daughters, as well as founding Mirage Resorts in 1976 and Wynn Resorts in 2000.
