That’s why I stand with C.E.A.S.E.—Casino Employees Against Smoking Effects—as they fight to ban indoor smoking in casinos. Their cause is not just about policy—it’s about human lives.
I know the pain firsthand. In my apartment building, smoke seeps into my home. I’ve woken up gasping with asthma attacks, landed in the ER with pleurisy, and spent entire days exhausted from sleepless nights. And despite knowing the harm, smoking neighbors continue to smoke, showing complete disregard for children, pets, and others they’re harming.
No one should have to fight so hard to safeguard their health. Cigarette smoke—like illegal drugs—contains toxic substances that kill, cause lifelong suffering, and harm innocent bystanders. If any other substance caused such damage, the law would intervene.
Clean air should not be a privilege. It’s a basic human right. We need laws that protect non-smokers, because no one should be forced to inhale someone else’s poison.
