To celebrate both women’s history month and Choctaw women’s month, the art gallery at the Sky Tower in the Choctaw Casino has been updated to feature all female Choctaw artists.

Claire Green Young, public arts manager for the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, said it’s a collection close to her heart.

“As a chahta ohoyo, a Choctaw woman myself, it’s really important to me that we give our female artists the opportunity to showcase their work on a really large scale,” she said.

One of those works being showcased is Lauretta Newby Coker’s “Together We’re More,” a piece done with stained glass on a wood panel – something Newby Coker said she learned in her time as a teacher.
