CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Cedar Rapids City Council passed a second and third, final reading of a rezoning ordinance for the new Cedar Crossing Casino and Entertainment Center Tuesday.
The rezoning ordinance allows for changes to the layout and project plans by making the area a Planned Unit Development. That means they’ll be able to get input on the landscaping, parking, and the final design, including flood mitigation efforts.
There is still a legal battle over Linn County’s gaming license.
A hearing was previously scheduled in Louisa County court Tuesday, but that’s been pushed back.
A judge is expected to set a new date in the next week or so to hear the case.
Riverside Casino and Golf Resort and the Washington County Riverboat Foundation argue the license should be put on hold since the ballot measure asked voters to continue gaming in the county when there was no gaming to begin with.
Cedar Crossing is still slated to open on New Year’s Eve of 2026.
