THORNTON, IL — An alleged hostage situation that originated at Wind Creek Chicago Southland Casino in East Hazel Crest was ultimately a dispute over sex, Thornton police said Wednesday afternoon.

Police responded about 4:45 a.m. to 100 Ann Court for a report of a person allegedly taken at gun point from the casino. The person told police he was taken to the residence and ordered to give up his property, Thornton police said. He then was able to leave the residence after “being battered and attacked by the resident’s pit bull.”

The man then flagged down police, and declined medical attention from paramedics, according to a news release.

Thornton police initially interviewed the man, and say he gave different versions of the events that took place in the early morning hours at the casino. Homewood police were contacted, since the incident started at the Wind Creek Casino parking garage.

In interviews with Homewood detectives, police say the man relayed numerous versions of the incident, before disclosing it was over an agreement for sex and that he had left the casino willingly.

The man—a South Carolina resident—told police he wanted his money back and didn’t want the incident investigated further.

He was later released with his vehicle from the Homewood Police Department.

An investigation into the residence and its occupants is ongoing with Thornton Police and Cook County Sheriff’s Police.
