DES MOINES, Iowa — A 5 year casino moratorium bill is moving through the Iowa statehouse Thursday.
It would effectively block Cedar Rapids plan to bring a new casino to the area.
The house is planning to debate it on the floor and Speaker of the house Pat Grassley says he expects it to advance.
It’s still a little unclear where senators stand on the issue.
A three person subcommittee did advance it earlier Thursday morning and it will be taken up in another senate committee before being eligible for debate on the senate floor.
Coming up at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on CBS2 Statehouse reporter Skylar Tallal will have more from Cedar Rapids mayor and how much support the bill has in the senate.
