Maine casinos generated $12.4 million in revenue in December, a 3.8 percent decline month-over-month and an almost 4.7 percent decrease year-over-year, according to a Maine Gambling Control Unit report.
In December, Oxford Casino generated $6.45 million in slot revenue and $1.1 million in table game revenues. While the table game revenue numbers were higher in December than in November, slot revenues fell month-over-month and year-over-year. The more than $500,000 difference between Oxford Casino slot revenues year-over-year was the most significant contributor to the drop overall, accounting for more than 83 percent of the statewide difference in revenues year-over-year.
Hollywood Casino generated $4 million in slot revenues in December, a drop from November and December 2023. However, its table game revenue of more than $765,000 increased year-over-year, even if it marked a steep decline of more than 21.8 percent month-over-month.
While casino revenues are struggling, other types of gambling are thriving in Maine. The Maine Gambling Control Unit recently revealed that sports betting in Maine generated $6 million in revenue in its first full year.
