“According to the investigation, Darryl A. Saddler, 62, approached the victim in the Hollywood Casino parking garage and displayed a firearm,” police said.
MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. — A 74-year-old woman was kidnapped from the Hollywood Casino in Maryland Heights on Wednesday, according to Friday morning statements from the Maryland Heights and the St. Charles City police departments.
According to the St. Charles police department statement, St. Charles police officers responded to a reported robbery at the QuikTrip at 1500 Zumbehl Road minutes after 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
“The incident involved a 74-year-old female victim who reported being kidnapped from the Hollywood Casino,” the St. Charles Police Department statement said. “According to the investigation, Darryl A. Saddler, 62, approached the victim in the Hollywood Casino parking garage and displayed a firearm.”
According to St. Charles police, Saddler then got into the woman’s car and threatened her life while demanding money and telling her to drive to an ATM.
“The victim drove to the QuikTrip at 1500 Zumbehl Road, St. Charles, MO 63303, where Saddler accompanied her inside,” the St. Charles police statement said. “After the victim withdrew funds from the ATM, the suspect seized the money and fled in the victim’s vehicle.”
St. Charles police officers found the woman’s car near Campus Drive and Zumbehl Road, less than two miles from the QuikTrip. The car was unoccupied.
“By 5:40 PM, officers had successfully located and apprehended Saddler in the vicinity,” the St. Charles statement said. “The St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged Saddler with Kidnapping First Degree, Robbery First Degree, Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Stealing a Motor Vehicle.”
Saddler remains in custody with a court-ordered $100,000 cash-only bond.
According to the Maryland Heights Police Department’s statement, Saddler, a 62-year-old St. Louis man, has a significant criminal history, including five felonies.
“On Thursday, April 3, 2025, the case was presented to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office,” the Maryland Heights police statement said. “Darryl Saddler has been charged with Vehicle Hijacking – Serious Physical injury/Deadly Weapon/Dangerous Instrument/Vulnerable Person – Class A Felony, two counts of Armed Criminal Action – Class U Felony, and Kidnapping – 1st Degree – Class B Felony, with no bond.”
