According to reports, the Kings County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the apprehension of a Valley Crime Stoppers Most Wanted criminal out of Clovis when the suspect was reported to be heading to a casino on Monday night.
On Monday, June 9, Kings County Sheriff Deputies received intelligence from the Clovis Police Department regarding a potentially armed and dangerous suspect en route to the Tachi Palace Casino Resort.
KCSO was provided with information on the vehicle associated with the individual, identified as 46-year-old James Earnest Johnson of Clovis, who had been listed as a Most Wanted subject by Valley Crime Stoppers on June 3.
At 11:20 p.m., a KCSO Deputy located the vehicle near the intersection of 18th and Jersey avenues. A high-risk felony stop was initiated, and Johnson was taken into custody without incident.
A female passenger was briefly detained for questioning but subsequently released. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the reported discovery of approximately five grams of suspected methamphetamine.
The Clovis Police Department was notified and responded to the scene. The department took custody of Johnson for the outstanding warrant issued out of Fresno County.
The Fresno County warrant pertains to multiple felony charges, including Felony Robbery, Felony Kidnapping, Felony False Imprisonment, Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Felony Terrorist Threats. This warrant stipulated that Johnson was ineligible for bail.
Furthermore, a case will be submitted to the Kings County District Attorney’s Office for review and the potential filing of a formal complaint against Johnson for possession of methamphetamine.
