The Newnan Junior Service League hosted its annual Mardi Gras Casino Night on Feb. 8 at The Newnan Centre, drawing more than 300 attendees for an evening of dining, casino games and music.
Guests enjoyed Mardi Gras-inspired fare catered by Life of the South and played games such as roulette, blackjack, poker and craps, with DJ Steve Allen providing entertainment throughout the night.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the NJSL’s annual grant recipient and scholarship program.
This year’s grant will go to CORRAL, the Coweta Organization for Riding, Rehabilitation and Learning, which provides therapeutic horseback riding for individuals with physical and mental challenges. The funds will help CORRAL purchase a new therapy horse to support its programs.
In addition, proceeds will contribute to the NJSL Scholarship Program, which awards scholarships to graduating high school female students pursuing higher education.
The total amount awarded to CORRAL and the number of scholarships given this year will be announced in May. Additional funds from NJSL’s Legends of the League Golf Tournament, scheduled for April, will also support the grant and scholarship program.
