House legislation that would have set up a commission to disburse revenue from the Petersburg casino among the five Tri-City localities will not go forward this session after all.
A spokesperson for Del. Mike Cherry, R-Colonial Heights, chief patron of House Bill 2232, said they plan to treat the proposal as inactive. That means it will remain on the House calendar for committee assignment, and once it gets into committee, it will be allowed to die.
Cherry said earlier this week he would yank the legislation if the localities that surround Petersburg did not want it. He planned to pull it following a meeting of city and county officials to discuss it, but apparently changed course and opted for withdrawal.
