Anderson, IN — Harrah’s Hoosier Park Racing & Casino is pleased to announce that Gabe Prewitt will assume duties of Vice President and General Manager of Racing in advance of the 2025 racing season at Harrah’s Hoosier Park.
The Lexington, Ky., native brings to Harrah’s Hoosier Park an accomplished resume within the racing industry. Prewitt served as the Director of Racing Operations at Pompano Park before being promoted to the Director of Racing for Caesars Entertainment in 2020. In the time since, Prewitt returned to his Bluegrass roots, assuming the position of Vice President of Racing and Sports Wagering Operations at The Red Mile beginning in 2023.
Beyond his leadership positions, Prewitt is a well-known race caller, having announced at the historic Red Mile since 2006, along with stints as the primary voice of Buffalo Raceway and Pompano Park.
Prewitt has also been a prominent figure in presenting harness racing to a national audience, serving as co-host for the Fox Sports broadcasts of events such as the Caesars Trotting Classic, Hambletonian and Breeders Crown for the last several years alongside The Meadowlands’ Jessica Otten.
Poised to bring his “Send It In Army” to Harrah’s Hoosier Park, Prewitt was also nabbed as the 2015 Breakthrough Award winner by the United States Harness Writers Association.
“I have known and worked with Gabe since the early 2000s,” said Senior Vice President of Racing for Caesars Entertainment, Joe Morris. “He is very talented and very passionate about our sport. Nobody is as dialed in with our gamblers and horsemen as Gabe. We are thrilled to have him join our team.”
Prewitt will assume the role after longtime General Manager, Rick Moore, announced his semi-retirement and will move into a consultant role for Caesars Entertainment’s other racing properties. Moore was an instrumental part of the team that opened Hoosier Park in 1994 and has been at the helm of the racetrack operations for many of the successes the track has seen since. Under his guidance, Moore established the Dan Patch Stakes and Indiana Derby, while Harrah’s Hoosier Park has hosted three Breeders Crown championships and welcomed sports betting to the property. Moore’s leadership and contributions to the racing industry were evident through his many achievements over the years.
Harrah’s Hoosier Park’s 32nd season of live harness racing is set to begin on Friday (March 14) as part of the track’s Fan-Appreciation Weekend. Guests can enjoy the return of live racing action in addition to giveaways, racing contests, guaranteed wagers and much more.
The 160-day season will run through Saturday (Nov. 29) and be highlighted by signature events such as the Dan Patch Stakes (Aug. 9), Jim Doherty and Peter Haughton Memorials (Sept. 12), Caesars Trotting Classic (Sept. 19), and Hoosier Champions (Oct. 10) in addition to a wide variety of family fun activities throughout the season.
