On Saturday, January 18, Shasta County deputies arrested two after uncovering an ammunitions and narcotics violation.

According to a press release, at approximately 2:30 a.m., deputies with the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) contacted two occupants of a vehicle in the Win River Casino parking lot. The occupants were identified as Edward Leroy Gravelle, 66, and Megan Marie Slack, 38, both of Redding.

During the contact, deputies learned Gravelle was currently on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

Gravelle and slack were both detained and a search of the vehicle was conducted. SCSO said the search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of approximately 2.6 ounces of suspected methamphetamine, ammunition, and items indicative of narcotic sales.

The SCSO AB109 compliance team and Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force (SINTF) were requested to respond to the scene to assist. At the conclusion of the investigation, Gravelle and Slack were both placed under arrest and booked into Shasta County Jail.

Gravelle, a prior-convicted felon, was booked on the following charges; Prohibited person in possession of ammunition, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sales, violation of PRCS terms and a proposition 36 violation for a fresh narcotics charge with two prior narcotics convictions.

Slack was also booked into the Shasta County Jail for being under the influence of a controlled substance and delaying/resisting deputies during the investigation.
