Two have been charged after being accused of gambling while leaving children unattended at a Rhode Island casino.
According to multiple reports, on Friday, Lincoln Police arrested Brenda Gonzalez, 45, and Wilfredo Urbina Delgado, 41, both of Providence, Rhode Island, at Bally’s Twin River Lincoln Casino.
The arrests followed a report at approximately 5:00 p.m. of two children, ages 7 and 11, left unattended in a vehicle in the casino’s north parking lot. Police determined that Delgado, the vehicle operator, admitted to leaving the children in the car while he entered the casino to look for Gonzalez. Further investigation revealed the children were left unsupervised for extended periods while both Gonzalez and Urbina Delgado gambled inside.
Both were charged with felony cruelty/neglect of a child.
Urbina Delgado was issued $20,000 personal recognizance bail but was remanded to the Adult Correctional Institutions as a bail violator.
Gonzalez was released on $20,000 personal recognizance.
The Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth, and Families was notified, and the children were placed in the care of a family member.
Lincoln Police noted this was not an isolated incident, as they respond to multiple similar cases annually at the casino, emphasizing their commitment to holding those responsible accountable.
Bally’s Casino security personnel assisted in the case.
