A vehicle fire led to the temporary closure of a Chumash Casino Resort parking structure on Monday.
At 8:10 a.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to the resort at 3400 Highway 246 in Santa Ynez, fire Capt. Scott Safechuck said.
The burning vehicle was located on a lower level of the self-parking structure.
“Firefighters encountered low visibility due to smoke and fire, closing the structure to locate the vehicle fire on the first floor.” Safechuck said. “Hose lines were used to prevent fire spread to adjacent vehicles.”
Crews extinguished the fire by 8:34 a.m. keeping it confined mostly to the engine compartment of the sedan.
No injuries were reported and no other vehicles were damaged.
Investigators responded to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
Firefighters expected the parking structure reopen before 10 a.m.
