Casino workers in Lethbridge are betting on themselves. A total of 155 PURE Canadian Gaming employees in the city have voted to be represented by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE).
The exact voting numbers have not been disclosed, but AUPE said the staff “overwhelmingly” approved unionization.
AUPE Vice-President Curtis Jackson says the casino workers now stand alongside more than 100,000 public and private sector workers who are fighting for fair wages and better working conditions.
“The staff at PURE Casino Lethbridge know that there is power in a union,” says Jackson. “We are ready to leverage that power to get the wages and working conditions they deserve.”
